‘Gemini’ high-rise study commission, Zurich-Oerlikon

Planning 2017

The striking Swissôtel at Oerlikon railway station is getting some company: several high-rise buildings, all between forty and eighty metres high, are being developed around the station. At around sixty metres high, the Gemini high-rise avoids a gateway situation with the significantly higher Franklin tower opposite. The building and the resulting square mark the starting point of Neu-Oerlikon and strengthen the axis linking the Neu-Oerlikon and Alt-Oerlikon districts. The building’s layout, with a compact inner core, provides a high-quality work environment and flexible space distribution. The building core, which runs lengthways, and the central hall make it easy to move across the ground floor from east to west.
