With footfall of around 100,000 pedestrians every day, the Europaallee entrance is one of the most important links between the main station and the city. In terms of load transfer and cabling, the entrance is closely linked with the office building on building plot B. The objective was to tie together the technical and design requirements of the various different functions of the adjoining areas. This included the commercial spaces along the passage, an underground parking area for 1,800 bicycles and the new Europaplatz and its trees. The entrance itself consists of three escalators, two stairways and a lift. It stands out by virtue of its clear and uniform design in a place where there’s always a lot going on.
