Conversion of the NZZ headquarters in a prominent location next to the opera house.
Planning 2002-2005 / Construction 2005-2008

The client’s intention for the conversion of Robert Zollinger’s Art Nouveau building from 1900 was to open up the ground floor to the public. The NZZ now welcomes its guests in a newly designed entrance foyer, while the ‘NZZ Forum’ provides a flexible space that can be divided into meeting rooms during the day. The reconstruction of the dome facing Sechseläutenplatz recreated the original appearance and increased the usable floor space. Brass inlays in the floor – an enlarged version of the historic NZZ lettering – form a link with the Art Nouveau era.
