Replacement building for technical college Zurich North.
Planning 1998-2002 / Construction 2002-2005

By situating its new building in close proximity to the main building, Zurich Technical College (TBZ) is consolidating its location in Sihlquai. The lower part of the L-shaped structure matches the height of the nearby original building, while the tower is six storeys higher than the neighbouring buildings. This points to the public use of the building and creates a distinctive landmark along the riverside. The structure of the building is based on a strict spatial grid and this is reflected in the façade. Pillars structure the interior space and provide maximum flexibility for any future use. The building received the gold award for best architecture in 2008.
