Two replacement buildings creating space for forty owner-occupied apartments with circulation tailored to the existing topography. The project was developed in collaboration with SKK Landscape Architects and Abicht Group, who were responsible for the building services engineering.
Planning 2025
The two new buildings replace two existing houses within an established residential neighborhood. With their staggered volumes, they respond sensitively to the neighboring buildings and the local context. At the same time, they create a clear address for the forty new condominiums along Krummibuckweg. Cleverly positioned, the new buildings allow continued use of the existing underground garages. An additional parking facility is accessed via Bahnhofstrasse, which largely frees Krummibuckweg from traffic. As a result, the quality of stay along this neighborhood street is enhanced, turning it into a place for play and social interaction among residents.
Both apartment buildings share the same basic structure, with each tailored to the specific topography of its immediate surroundings. Their orientation and internal layout ensure optimal sunlight exposure and shading of the living spaces, which are organized into separate sleeping and living zones. Morning sunlight enters the bedrooms facing northeast, while the living and dining areas are oriented to the southwest, allowing residents to enjoy the evening sun. Depending on individual preferences, the kitchens can be designed in an L-shape or with freestanding islands.
Floor-to-ceiling windows lend the apartments a generous sense of space and a strong connection to the outdoors. The window openings are positioned to provide a high degree of privacy. Externally, the buildings are characterized by carefully articulated timber façades, French windows, and textile sunshades – solid and functional, yet simple and elegant.
